Kampar River Festival -  5th - 7th July 2019 

About The Festival:

Welcome to Malaysia’s largest whitewater festival.

The Kampar River Festival (KRF) will be held for three days that will involve people all around the world to celebrate and experience the excitement of Kampar river in Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia.

The KRF committee had designed the first ever one of the biggest Festival which involve rafters, kayakers and combination with the idea of what we are doing (all operators) in Kampar river, Gopeng. Apart from that, we have invited some of the NGO’s to manage a River Conservation program with the local kids to create the awareness during the Festival day. Not to be set aside, the local people will be given more priority to equally feel the joy of this Festival.

Why Kampar River:

Kampar River is a strategic location for water sports activities which aligns with the aim of choosing this place to introduce Lembah Kinta as a Geopark to the public that can raise the profile of territory and be a high-quality tourist destination. Furthermore, hosting tourism activities can lead to the need of research and development at Kampar area that can benefit future host. This also can raise the awareness among the local population and visitors about the importance of river conservation. Thus, Kampar River Festival will be the first International White-water Rafting held in Malaysia. This Festival offers varieties of activities which are rafting race, kayak race, tubing race, rafters gathering, and sukan rakyat.

To overview, Kampar River is suitable for paddling sports due to its rapids and surrounding geographical areas. Participants will not only participate in the race but also can allocate some time for other activities as well. It also a strategic location of Gopeng which is just 2 hours from Kuala Lumpur and Penang and 1 hour from Cameron Highlands, adds more value to it. Moreover, it is easily accessible as it is situated just close to the main road and train station. Furthermore, participants may also access through the PLUS Expressway by exiting the Expressway at Tapah (south of Kampar) or Gopeng (north of Kampar). Next, the number of available accommodations is able to accommodate a big number of participants. For instance, participants may choose different types of accommodation ranging from budgeted hostel up to luxury villas. In addition, Gopeng, as a local tourist destination has emerged in terms of its transportation to transport the participants and rafts. Meanwhile, regarding food and beverages, a variety of restaurants and cafes have opened up in the area to feed the participants. Other amenities such as police station, clinics, hospital, ATMs are easy to access in the area.


Introduction of The Organizer:

Established in 2007, Radak Adventure is a company which is focusing on adventure tourism based in Gopeng, Perak. Currently, Radak Adventure is committed to the development of Gopeng as a nature adventure destination among locals and international tourists.

Specialized in whitewater rafting, the most exciting yet dangerous sport in the world, for that safety is the main concern. The guides are all certified by Rescue 3 International, Swiftwater Rescue Technician and Certified Emergency Response Training (CERT).

Radak Adventure has shown a positive development since its establishment. To note, Radak Adventure is operating Riverside Camp, Gopeng. As part of its corporate service responsibility, Radak Adventure has initiated a non-profit project called Project Senyum to benefit the local children around Gopeng. Radak Adventure will continue to contribute to Malaysia’s economic sector in tourism industry while promoting Malaysia to the world.


How to find us:

  • Self Drive

From Kuala Lumpur and Singapore

Go north to Ipoh on PLUS highway. From the North South Expressway (also known as PLUS Highway), follow the sign post to Ipoh/Gopeng. Take the E1 Exit at Gopeng Toll 135 (after Tapah Exit) and follow Route 1.

  • From Penang (Gopeng Toll)

Go southwards passing Ipoh and Simpang Pulai toll. Gopeng toll is next. 

After you have exit from Gopeng toll, turn right at the traffic light, located not far from the toll. Head straight by following the sign post to Gopeng will lead you passing by the PETRON petrol kiosk on your left. Further up is a soccer field on your left, Gopeng Police Station and Gopeng Post Office on your right. Next to Gopeng Post Office is the convenience shop, SPEED MART, take a right turn immediately. Go further until you see the roundabout. We are situated in between of the third and fourth exit.


  • By bus

There are various express bus services en route from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang etc and vice versa to Ipoh and Gopeng. 

If you arrive in Ipoh, go to Medan Kid (local bus station) and take a local bus to Gopeng.

By train

You could stop at Batu Gajah Station or Kampar Station. Then take a taxi or local bus to Gopeng Town.

Spectators and river party goers are more than welcome to come along to all of the events and watch the show.

Check out the schedule above to see when and where each event is happening. See the spectacle of kayakers and rafters pushing themselves to the limit. Take-out with a tasty BBQ on Saturday night with the Fire Show and the performance of Reggae Band from Malaysia.

You don’t have to be a kayaker or rafter to get involved:

Spectators will just need to pay for their own food, drinks, accommodation etc as with any other time, this will be paid directly to the various establishments.
